GIANNI EMILIO SIMONETTI (1940)
La storia di Gianni Emilio Simonetti affonda le radici nelle esperienze avanguardistiche della metà del secolo scorso. Artista e teorico, tra i pochi esponenti del Situazionismo in Italia, ha fatto parte dellesperienza artistico/politica di Fluxus e dellavventura Cramps/Multipla. La sua produzione artistica è fortemente influenzata dalle ricerche di John Cage sulla musica e sulla performance - basate, in sintesi, sul prevedere linizio di azioni, senza sapere a quale risultato avrebbero eventualmente portato, dando così molta più importanza al processo di creazione che al prodotto finale - che lo portano a comporre concerti/performance e opere in cui laspetto visivo dei segni, simboli e colori ricorda spesso uno spartito musicale. Approfondisce inoltre il tema della musica Fluxus attraverso numerosi concerti ed eventi da lui coordinati. Sperimentatore senza categorie, si è cimentato anche nella regia teatrale e cinematografica e nelleditoria davanguardia (è lui lideatore della rivista La Gola). E docente in Food Design presso il Politecnico di Milano, materia che testimonia ancora una volta la multidisciplinarità di questo artista, che spesso è anche curatore di rassegne incentrate su ambiti e tematiche alla base della propria formazione dal concettuale alla performance al valore del linguaggio. Artista interdisciplinare, si occupa anche di cinema e musica, che riversa nelle sue opere, film di circa unora e veri e propri concerti. Simonetti ha partecipato, e continua a partecipare, ad una lunga serie di mostre collettive e può vantare una lunga storia di personali in svariate gallerie in Italia e allestero - Genova, Milano, New York, Parigi, Madrid Toronto e Bruxelles, solo per citarne alcune. Ha partecipato alla Biennale di Venezia del 1978 From Nature To Art, From Art To Nature e alla Biennale di Venezia del 1993 Punti Cardinali DellArte. Nato a Roma nel 1940, Simonetti vive e lavora a Milano.
The story of Gianni Emilio Simonetti is rooted in the avant-garde experiences of the middle of the last century. Artist and theorist, among the few exponents of Situationism in Italy, he has been part of the artistic/political experience of Fluxus and the Cramps / Multipla adventure. His artistic production is strongly influenced by John Cage's research on music and performance - based, in summary, on predicting the beginning of actions, without knowing what result they would eventually bring, so that much more importance is given to the process of creation than to the final product - that lead him to compose concerts/performances and works in which the visual aspect of the signs, symbols and colors often recalls a musical score. He also faces the theme of Fluxus music through numerous concerts and events coordinated by him. Experimenter without categories, he has also ventured into theatrical and cinematographic direction and avant-garde publishing (he is the creator of La Gola magazine). He is a lecturer of Food Design at the Milan Polytechnic, a subject that once again testifies to the multidisciplinary nature of this artist, who often is also the editor of exhibitions focusing on areas and themes at the base of his training - from conceptual to performance to the value of language. Interdisciplinary artist, he also deals with cinema and music, which pours into his works, films of about an hour and real concerts. Simonetti has participated, and continues to participate, in a long series of group exhibitions and can boast a long history of solo exhibitions in various galleries in Italy and abroad - Genoa, Milan, New York, Paris, Madrid Toronto and Brussels, only for to name a few. He participated in the 1978 Venice Biennale From Nature To Art, From Art To Nature and at the 1993 Venice Biennale Cardinals of Art. Born in Rome in 1940, Simonetti lives and works in Milan.
